The Triple Treble crochet stitch is one of the taller crochet stitches. The basic stitch from shortest to longest are the single crochet, hand double crochet, double crochet, triple crochet (sometimes called the treble crochet), the double treble crochet, the triple treble crochet, and the quadruple treble crochet. You can even go past this to make even taller stitches!
The triple treble is a long stitch that is achieved easily through basics yarn overs and pulling the yarn through the loops on your hook. It is abbreviated as Tr Tr using U.S. crochet standards.
I recently used this stitch in my Fairy Fluff Sweater and I do say it looks amazing!
To start this stitch, you’ll need to either crochet a chain or have any sort of foundation stitches you desire. Since this is a single stitch, the length of your chain or foundation doesn’t matter.
Do note that when starting a triple treble you will need to chain 5, this chain 5 counts as the Tr Tr at the beginning of a row or round.
Now let’s make that Tr Tr crochet
- Yarn over 4 times (there are 5 loops on your hook)
- Insert your hook into the next stitch
- Yarn over and pull up a loop (there are 6 loops on your hook)
- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (5 loops remain on your hook)
- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (4 loops remain on your hook)
- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (3 loops remain on your hook)
- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops remain on your hook)
- Stitch complete
